Phillip Island and Gippsland Discovery is famed for its natural attractions and abundant wildlife. The region stretches from Melbourne’s suburban fringe east to the Gippsland Lakes, and inland from Mt Baw Baw to Wilsons Promontory. Within the region you’ll find an incredible diversity of landscapes – from snow-capped mountains to lush rolling hills and wide sandy beaches.
Surrounded by some of the best surf and swimming beaches in Victoria, Phillip Island has a reputation as a family coastal getaway. Here, you can see little penguins waddling up Summerland Beach each night, Australian fur seals cavorting around the Nobbies and koalas at close range in their natural habitat. You can also soak-up the scenic coastline, which takes in the striking Bunurong Marine Coastal Park, or enjoy one of the many seaside festivals celebrating the island. Each year, Phillip Island switches gear for the 500cc Motorcycle Grand Prix, held in October over three days.
